Meet Dr. Sean Byrd, DVM, CCRP
Dr. Byrd has been an integral part of Skyview Veterinary Clinic since 2002 and became the practice owner in 2010. A dedicated and compassionate leader, he is known for bringing out the best in his team and for his genuine commitment to every patient and pet parent he serves.
He earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri in Columbia and began his career practicing in Tennessee before finding his forever home at Skyview. In his pursuit of continued learning, Dr. Byrd became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP), partnering with Puddle Jumper Canine Rehabilitation to help pets recover mobility and improve their quality of life.
Dr. Byrd is deeply committed to patient care, often spending extra time during appointments to ensure every concern is addressed and that clients leave feeling confident and supported.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Byrd enjoys life with his wife and their three children. At home, he shares his days with three dogs, four cats, a lively flock of chickens, an axolotl, and a pond full of goldfish making his home nearly as full of animals as his heart. Though he’s known to be a bit of a workaholic, he finds time to unwind at the lake whenever possible.
Dr. Byrd is more than a veterinarian. He’s a trusted mentor, a compassionate caregiver, and a driving force behind the heart of Skyview.

Krista LeGrand, DVM
Dr. LeGrand is a Cape Girardeau native who graduated with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri Columbia. Her intelligence and attention to detail are top notch. Her previous experiences and education make her a great doctor. Although she has a mild allergy to cats, she has two of her own at home, including a feisty little dog named Tootsie. At home she has two children, and enjoys, exercising, cooking and hosting parties.

Fran Bergkoetter, DVM
While a new member of our team here at Skyview Dr. Fran is not an unfamiliar face. Dr. Fran was a kennel tech while attending SEMO. She graduated with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 2016. When Dr. Fran is not busy at the clinic, she spends her free time wood working and travelling. Dr. Fran has a dog named Cooper, and 3 cats named Iggy, Charles and Pretzel. When asked why Dr. Fran chose to come back to Skyview, she said it was the compassionate team and the amazing clients that made her want to be a doctor at Skyview. We say that its Dr. Frans dedication, empathy, and attentiveness that make her an asset to have!

Meet Dr. Andrew Bell, DVM
Dr. Bell rejoined the Skyview family in 2025, but his journey with us started much earlier as a kennel technician during his pre-vet days. After earning his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri in Columbia, he began his career in Las Vegas, gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced, high-volume practice. He returned to Skyview to continue his passion for personalized, community-based veterinary care.
Dr. Bell has a strong clinical interest in internal medicine and anesthesiology. He thrives on the challenges of diagnosing complex cases and enjoys working through the details to find the best possible outcome for his patients. His knowledge and calm, methodical approach to anesthesia ensure that every pet receives safe and compassionate care whether it’s a routine procedure or a more involved surgery.
He also has a soft spot for senior pets, finding great reward in helping them stay comfortable, mobile, and happy in their later years. Dr. Bell is known for his gentle bedside manner and ability to tailor care to the unique needs of aging pets. Still, nothing lights him up quite like a puppy bounce or a curious kitten; he’s always quick to celebrate the joyful moments, too.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Bell loves spending time with his beautiful wife and their five children. Whether he’s exploring new restaurants, reading a good book, or enjoying a relaxing day at the lake, he values making meaningful memories with his family. He also shares his home with Miller, a sweet dog he adopted from Skyview during his pre-vet days, a decision made the moment he saw Miller’s irresistible face.

Since joining the Skyview family in 2023, Hillary has brought nonstop energy, laughter, and heart to the clinic. As a true social butterfly, she’s always on the move. Whether she’s helping a teammate, making someone laugh, or just keeping the energy light (even if it means distracting herself a little in the process!).
In addition to her role as a Veterinary Technician Assistant, Hillary also serves as our Wildlife Manager. She plays a key part in coordinating the care and rehabilitation of injured wildlife, bringing compassion, focus, and a love for nature to every case she handles.
When she’s not at work, she’s most likely spending time with her two beloved dogs, Texas and Rori. Or hanging out with her cat, Caddie. If she isn’t doing that you’ll find her outside soaking up the sun. Whether it’s a simple walk or a full day of hunting in the cold, she’s happiest in the great outdoors.
And don’t be surprised. She’s already planning to add more dogs to the crew! Her passion for animals, upbeat spirit, and dedication to both domestic and wild patients make her a vibrant and valued part of the Skyview team.

Meet Alexis, Veterinary Technician Assistant
A Cape Girardeau native through and through, Alexis was born and raised just around the corner from Skyview and we’re lucky to have her! With a degree in art and a natural eye for creativity, Alexis is the artistic talent behind the beautiful chalkboard displays you see throughout the clinic. Her work brings color, personality, and a special touch to our space that clients and staff alike love.
Since joining Skyview in 2020, Alexis has become an essential part of the team. As a Technician Assistant, she brings that same creativity, compassion, and calm energy into every patient interaction. Whether she’s helping in exam rooms, comforting a nervous pet, or assisting the medical team, Alexis approaches each task with care and a quiet dedication that doesn’t go unnoticed.

Meet Jae, Veterinary Technician Assistant
Jae joined the Skyview family in 2023 and has been a vibrant, hardworking force on our team ever since. With a heart full of compassion and a clear vision for her future, she’s currently attending Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO), where she’s pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
Balancing school, clinic life, and her many passions, Jae somehow makes it all look effortless. When she’s not providing excellent care to our patients or hitting the books, she’s likely leading the band as SEMO’s proud drum major. Her love for music is matched only by her love for animals and her ability to juggle both with grace and enthusiasm is truly inspiring.
Jae is also an outdoor enthusiast through and through. Whether it’s a walk through nature or a spontaneous fishing trip, she finds peace and joy in the great outdoors. (And yes, she really does keep a fishing pole in her car, just in case adventure strikes!)
With her dedication, bright spirit, and unwavering passion for animals, Jae is an irreplaceable part of the Skyview team and we can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next.

Meet Marlie, Veterinary Technician Assistant
Marlie joined the Skyview team in 2025, bringing with her over two years of hands-on experience in veterinary medicine with both small and large animals. Her strong work ethic, drive to learn, and passion for animal care have made her a valued part of our team from day one.
Currently pursuing her degree to become a Registered Veterinary Technician, Marlie’s ambitions don’t stop there. Her long-term goal is to continue through pre-med and veterinary school to become a large animal veterinarian a dream that perfectly aligns with her deep love for horses.
And if there’s any doubt about that passion, just ask her about her herd Marlie owns four horses and has personally trained and broken each one herself. When she’s not at the clinic or studying, you’ll likely find her in the arena giving riding lessons or putting in training time with her “wild bunch.”
At home, Marlie is supported by her wonderful husband, who graciously embraces her ever-growing animal crew. Alongside the horses, they also share their lives with three beloved dogs and three energetic kids whom Marlie affectionately describes as her “feral pack.”

Alex has been a vital part of the Skyview family since 2020 and now proudly serves as our Lead Receptionist. Alex shares life with her sweet and loyal pup, Lady Mae, who is as much a part of her story as the smile she brings to work each day. When she’s off the clock, she’s most likely enjoying time with her family, exploring scenic hiking trails, or giving back to her community through her church’s ministry teams.
And if you’ve ever found a delicious homemade treat in the break room, chances are it came from Alex’s kitchen. Baking is just one of her many love languages, and she keeps the Skyview crew well-fed, full of sugar (and joy), and feeling like one big family.

Meet Emily, Veterinary Receptionist
Emily joined the Skyview team in 2022 and has proudly earned the title of our resident cat enthusiast despite being allergic to them! Her love for felines knows no bounds, and she cheerfully powers through the sneezes for her own fluffy orange cat, Bugs. Rumor has it he’s a near twin to our clinic cat, Snowflake, who also happens to be her Skyview best friend and frequent cuddle buddy.
As our lead receptionist, Emily is the friendly face and calming presence that greets every pet and person who walks through our doors. With her natural warmth, quick wit, and passion for animals, she keeps the front desk running smoothly and ensures that every visit feels personal and positive. Beyond her love for cats, Emily adores animals of all kinds and spends her free time pet sitting for friends, neighbors, and anyone in need of a trusted caregiver.
When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll find Emily recharging in nature hiking rugged trails, camping under the stars, or soaking up quality time with her friends and family. Her joyful energy, love for animals, and adventurous spirit make her an irreplaceable part of the Skyview family.

Animal Care Attendants

Meet Pierce, Animal Care Attendant
Pierce is the super friendly face you’ll often see strolling the hallways at Skyview. Since 2008, he’s brought joy, laughter, and a whole lot of heart to our clinic. He plays a vital role in keeping the clinic clean and running smoothly, and he’s known for his incredible memory, quick wit, and love of small talk.
Halloween is Pierce’s favorite holiday—he never misses a chance to dress up and spread some festive cheer! He’s also amazing with numbers and memorization, often surprising the team with fun facts and quick calculations.
Outside of work, Pierce enjoys therapy horseback riding, volunteering, bowling, and golfing. He’s a familiar and much-loved face to our clients, always ready with a warm greeting and a genuine admiration for their pets.
Pierce’s positivity, humor, and dedication make him an irreplaceable part of the Skyview family.

Meet Emma, Animal Care Attendant
She’s excellent at keeping herself busy, especially when it comes to caring for our boarding pets. If you see her scurrying past you in the hallway, don’t worry! She’s just making sure everyone is happy, clean, and well taken care of!
Outside of work and school, Emma makes time for one of her biggest passions: horseback riding. No matter how busy life gets, she always fits in at least one ride a week. At home, she shares her life with her adorable bunny, Paisley, who keeps her on her toes and adds even more fun to her days.
Her hardworking nature, attention to detail, and dedication to both animals and her studies make her a wonderful addition to the Skyview family.
Clinic Cats

Meet Momma, Head Clinic Cat
Momma has been part of the Skyview family since 2009. She came to us from the local Humane Society in Cape Girardeau while she was pregnant, and we decided to let her stay and have her kittens right here at the clinic. While all her kittens found loving homes, we quickly fell in love with Momma and decided to keep her as our own.
She warmly welcomes clients in her own laid-back style—usually by sunbathing lazily in the windows. Her top priorities? Naps, enjoying wet food for breakfast, sharing lunches with the staff, and demanding extra attention whenever she pleases.
Momma is more than just a clinic cat—she’s a beloved member of the Skyview family who brightens everyone’s day with her calm charm.

Meet Snowflake, Fluffy Clinic Cat
Our fluffy orange clinic cat is a true attention seeker who loves belly rubs from every client. Even those who might not want to give it to him! His favorite spot is the reception chairs, where he “helps” keep everyone active by encouraging them to move around while he rest from his busy day.
He dreams of becoming the Head Clinic Cat, but the staff kindly remind him that his sister, Momma Cat, holds that title. After all, she’s been part of Skyview since 2009!
Despite his big, fluffy appearance, he’s a gentle giant. Just a heads-up: he may tell you we starve him but it is just a diet for his health!
If you’re lucky enough to cross his path, don’t be shy—he’s always ready for some affection (and maybe a few belly rubs too).
We’re devoted to your pet’s wellbeing.
